Photographing the Night Skies with Alison Carlino
June 7 - 8, 2024 at the Palo Duro Canyon State Park & Caprock Canyons State Park
You’re invited to join the extremely accomplished professional photographer, instructor and judge, Alison Carlino, for an incredible astrophotography and stargazing adventure in West Texas! These locations are remote, yet easily accessible areas for capturing dreamy images of the Milky Way and night sky.
Alison will help you be prepared by hosting a pre-workshop webinar in March to confirm that you will know what gear is recommended for you to have a successful experience. Arlington Camera is hosting this event and will offer special event pricing on any photo equipment you may need to purchase. From cameras, lenses & filters to backpacks, tripods, and more, we’re happy to get you ready for a seamless night photography experience at the best possible prices!
The topics to be covered in this event will also include the following:
- Planning a night sky adventure using PhotoPills
- Tips for focusing in the darkness
- Planning & exposing for photographing the Milky Way
- Planning & exposing for star trails
- Light painting techniques
- Post processing the Milky Way in Lightroom
- Using StarStaX to create the final star trail image
The workshop will begin Friday, June 7th at 1pm with a comprehensive lecture at Alison’s B&B. Be sure to bring your laptop and gear! Travel to Palo Duro Lighthouse Trail will commence at 3pm and the class will begin at 5pm at the trail bottom. On Saturday, June 8th post processing is scheduled for 3pm, with travel to Caprock Canyons to begin at 6pm.
